It's Play Outside Day

It's Play Outside Day

Hello 2022! We're not making any presumptions, but the fact that your first day was National Play Outside Day is a very good sign.

As you know we love to play outdoors — it's what keeps us sane, grounded, and resilient. We originally posted this for New Years Day, but for National Get Up Day, we thought it was worth repeating that playing outside is always a great idea. Here are some of the ways we love to do it.

Sled Races
Backyard hills, local parks or golf courses, wherever there’s a hill with snow on it is the perfect place for a sled race.

Plan a Winter Getaway
Winter camping is easier (and more fun) than you might think. You’ll need warm base layers, comfortable outerwear, cozy sleeping bags and tent, and lots of good snacks. If you’re willing to brave the cold, you’ll probably have the camp site to yourself (dreamy). Just be sure to keep yourself safe and warm with these tips.

Not down to camp in Winter?  Plan a weekend getaway instead (this will chase off the post-holiday blues).  Here’s one of our favorite Winter destinations.

Bike Ride
Biking isn’t just for summer— snow-treaded bike tires keep the fun rolling all year long. Plan a ride to a lunch destination and then come home for a winter's day nap.

Outdoors with Friends
Rather than a coffee date, go for an outdoor date – snowshoe a local trail, bring a thermos of cocoa to the park, or set up a cozy seating area around an outdoor fire pit instead of a fireplace.

Happy Get Up Day! Resiliency is all about doing what you love, no matter what.
