How To Use

All of our scents and products are made for all genders.

Yes, our Body Washes can be used on the body, hair, and hands.

Since pets, like their human friends, can have sensitivities to ingredients, test our Body Wash, Shampoo, and Conditioner on a small area of your pet before you apply all over. Many of our customers have shared that they have used our products on their pets without any issues - and have enjoyed the effectiveness and freshness of our scents.

While our Haircare products are not formulated for the specific needs of color-treated hair, they are gentle enough to be suitable for it.

Our Castile Body Wash, Bar Soap, Shampoo, Conditioner, and Hand Soaps are all safe for outdoor use and biodegradable when used appropriately. Please follow Leave No Trace’s (https://lnt.org/) best practices and never wash your items directly in a stream, river or lake. Instead, collect water in a container and move at least 200 feet away from the body of water. When you are finished with your washing, dig a six inch hole and dump your wastewater into it.

Packaging

The coating on the inside of the 16.9 fl oz aluminum Castile Body Wash, Soap - Body.Hair.Shave, Hand Soap, Shampoo, and Conditioner bottles is BPA-free. This lining creates a barrier between the aluminum and the product. This is very similar to liquid consumption products in aluminum bottles: soda, beer, etc.

No. The coating on the outside of the bottles is BPA-free. This coating creates a barrier between the aluminum and the skin.

We use aluminum because it is the most recycled material on earth. An astounding 84% of the aluminum ever produced is still being used today! Whereas plastic can only be downcycled, aluminum can be recycled almost an infinite number of times. In fact, recycling a can takes 95% less energy than producing a new one. And, because it’s so lightweight, using aluminum spares us millions of pounds of carbon emissions annually in shipping.

Our aluminum bottles have a BPA-free lining, so yes they are safe to drink from! We recommend you rinse them thoroughly first, and make sure there is no soap or shampoo residue before using them for anything else.

Unfortunately, plastic-free pumps and atomizers are not available for us to purchase at this time. We strongly encourage their reuse and only use them when it is the best option for dispensing that particular product.

In our search for plastic-free packaging, Paper and Paperboard came to our awareness as some of the best options for certain products. Advances in their use have made them a great alternative to plastics for the cosmetic and bodycare industry. Paper and Paperboard are a renewable resource, as the American forest products industry typically plants five trees for every one harvested. Paper and Paperboard are two of the most commonly recycled materials, and, unlike most packaging materials, are compostable.

Due to global sourcing issues, the 16.9 FL OZ / 500 ML aluminum bottle is the largest, completely plastic-free packaging we can find at this time. As soon as it’s available, we'll move to a larger size that can either be used to refill our existing 16 FL OZ PET bottles made from recycled plastic or our 16.9 FL OZ / 500 ML aluminum bottles, depending on your preference. In the meantime, please note that aluminum is infinitely recyclable, and it takes 95% less energy to recycle a used aluminum bottle into a new aluminum bottle than it does to produce primary aluminum.

The 2% of our packaging that will still be plastic are: the lid to the Relief Balm and the Dispenser Pump. We are searching for a plastic-free lid for the Relief Balm in 2021 and will continue to search for the first manufacturer of a plastic-free dispenser pump. In the meantime, we encourage you to please save and reuse any pumps you purchase.

Spain

Please recycle your aluminum bottles and reference the FAQ, “Is there a way to refill the bottle, or do you have to get a new bottle every time?”

We use 100% medical grade cotton to prevent tab movement and breakage during shipment. The cotton is compostable.

Giving

Yes - with every purchase! One of the most profound gifts we can give our youth is time spent in the outdoors. Many kids have no access to vast, raw wilderness and the life-shaping perspective that comes from experiencing it firsthand. We believe that when young people get to know and appreciate the beauty of nature, it shapes them to become conscious leaders within their own communities. Our future truly depends on the future generations’ ability to understand the world around them. For this reason, Alpine Provisions has partnered with the Colorado Outward Bound School (COBS) to provide young adults with scholarships for three-week outdoor leadership programs in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, Utah, Alaska, and Wyoming. One percent of all our sales go into this scholarship fund.
